Formerly dismissed for being gay, Martine Roy honored LGBT service members at Montreal's Remembrance Day.

Martine Roy, dismissed from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1984 for being gay, laid a wreath at Montreal's Remembrance Day ceremony for LGBT Purge victims. Roy was part of a class-action lawsuit leading to a $145-million settlement and a 2017 federal apology for decades of LGBTQ+ discrimination. Settlement funds will honor Canada's LGBTQ+ veterans, including a monument in Ottawa for purge survivors.
