Despite a housing boom, Ireland's construction sector shrank in October, though firms remain optimistic.

Despite a surge in home construction, Ireland's construction sector contracted for the second straight month in October. The BNP Paribas Real Estate Ireland Construction PMI rose slightly to 49.4 but remained below the 50 threshold indicating growth. Housing activity hit its fastest rate since May 2022, while commercial projects declined. Input costs continued to rise sharply, and employment increased moderately. Despite the contraction and a modest decrease in new orders, firms are optimistic about future growth.
