Conservation efforts in China have boosted the brown-eared pheasant population to around 19,000.

A recent two-year survey in Shanxi Province, China, shows a significant increase in the brown-eared pheasant population, now averaging around 19,000. This rare bird species, facing near extinction in the 1980s, has seen its numbers grow due to extensive conservation efforts, including habitat protection and breeding programs. The pheasants are now found in four regions across 45 counties in Shanxi.
