Australian household spending rose 0.8% in October, driven by concert and sports event tickets.

Household spending in Australia rose by 0.8% in October, fueled by increased ticket purchases for major concerts and sporting events, including Oasis, Luke Combs, Metallica, and the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The rise in discretionary spending was partially offset by a 0.7% decline in September. Spending on household goods also increased by 2.5%, but essential purchases only rose marginally. The Commonwealth Bank expects interest rate cuts in February, which may further boost consumer spending. Australians are also expected to spend over $600 per person during the upcoming Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales.
