Mazda plans to produce the Iconic SP, a rotary-engine hybrid sports car reminiscent of the RX-7.

Mazda's Iconic SP concept, resembling the 1990s RX-7 sports coupe, is set for production, according to Chief Designer Masashi Nakayama. The car features a rotary engine that charges an onboard battery to power electric motors, capable of producing up to 285kW. This hybrid powertrain could make it a successor to the RX-7 and RX-8. The Iconic SP is part of a Japanese sports car revival, alongside upcoming models from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan.
