Malaysia is considering nuclear power to meet rising electricity demands from industries, data centers, and electric vehicles. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated the government will carefully evaluate the feasibility, including reviewing new nuclear technologies and past studies. The aim is to provide a stable and competitive energy supply as coal plants are phased out. While no immediate plans to repurpose existing coal plants for nuclear use exist, the focus is on ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
