Maersk Tankers to install wind-assist "suction sails" on five tankers, aiming to cut fuel use and emissions.

Maersk Tankers, part of the global shipping group, plans to install wind-assist technology called "suction sail" on five of its tankers to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Developed by Bound4blue, the eSAIL systems will be installed in 2025 and 2026 during dry dock periods. Each vessel will have four 26-meter autonomous sails, expected to reduce fuel use and emissions by double-digit percentages.
