Since 2015, at least 100 pets, mostly cats and dogs, have been trapped in wildlife traps across British Columbia, according to records obtained by animal charity group The Fur-Bearers. Between eight and 15 pets were caught annually, with potential underreporting. The Fur-Bearers' director, Aaron Hofman, advocates for regulatory changes like increased setbacks from homes, mandatory warning signs, and measures to keep traps away from trails and roads to prevent such incidents.
