Egypt's urban consumer price inflation slightly rose to 26.5% in October, driven by food and energy costs.

Egypt's annual urban consumer price inflation rose slightly to 26.5% in October from 26.4% the previous month, according to the country's statistics agency. This increase was slower than the expected 27%. Monthly inflation rose by 1.1%, the same as in September. Higher prices for food, electricity, gas, and fuel were major factors, while the cost of fruits, vegetables, and hotel services fell. The inflation is partly due to a 29.59% year-on-year expansion in the money supply.
