Construction begins on a $40 million, 21MW solar farm in New Zealand, set to power 4,000 homes.

Construction of the Papareireiā Solar Farm, a $40 million, 21MW project in New Zealand's Northland, has started. Expected to be completed in 2025, it will generate enough clean energy to power about 4,000 homes and reduce carbon emissions by 3,300 tonnes annually. The solar farm is a joint venture between Tupu Tonu, Purpose Capital, and Harbour Infrastructure. Ryman Healthcare, owning 40 retirement villages, is the sole energy consumer under a power purchase agreement with Mercury Energy. The project supports Ryman's goal of sourcing 100% of its electricity from renewable sources.
