Infectious diseases caused over 21,000 deaths in Delhi in 2023, making up 24% of total deaths.

A Delhi government report shows that infectious and parasitic diseases, including cholera, diarrhea, tuberculosis, and hepatitis B, caused 24% of 89,000 deaths in 2023, totaling about 21,000 deaths. Cancer deaths increased by 12% compared to 2022. Respiratory diseases accounted for 10% of deaths, and the highest number of institutional deaths were in the 45-64 age group.
