The Indian National Congress claims India faces a "demand crisis" due to stagnant incomes over the past decade, blaming the Modi government. General Secretary Jairam Ramesh says rural per capita income is only Rs. 2,886 a month, limiting spending beyond necessities. This, he argues, is hurting long-term economic growth as the private sector is hesitant to invest.
