The Tun Tavern Legacy Foundation has started construction on a replica of Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, the birthplace of the Marine Corps founded in 1775 by Capt. Samuel Nicholas. The project aims to raise $8 million to complete the tavern and an adjacent restaurant, which will serve historical cuisine. Upon completion, proceeds will go to charities connected to Tun Tavern's legacy. Led by Marine veteran Michael Dailey, the foundation has raised $6.5 million of the $21 million total cost so far.
