Algerian writer Kamel Daoud's banned book "Houris" sparks controversy at Algiers book fair.

French-Algerian writer Kamel Daoud, who won France's prestigious literary prize for his novel "Houris," is notably absent from this year's International Book Fair in Algiers. Daoud's book, which discusses Algeria's civil war, is banned in Algeria, and his publisher, Gallimard, was not allowed to display his works at the fair. Illicit copies of "Houris" are reportedly widely available despite the ban.
