A hearing aid system at Cork courthouse was deactivated after private conversations were overheard.

A hearing aid system at Cork's Anglesea Street courthouse was temporarily deactivated after a solicitor overheard private conversations from another room. The Courts Service explained that the incident was caused by a loop induction system for hearing aids, not a hidden listening device. Following the breach of privacy concerns raised by solicitor Aidan Desmond, the system will remain off until specifically requested for use, without any believed compromise of confidential information.
