Democrat Angela Alsobrooks has won the Maryland Senate race, defeating former Governor Larry Hogan, making her the state's first Black senator. Alsobrooks, currently the Prince George's County Executive, is one of few Black women elected to the U.S. Senate. Her campaign focused on economic opportunities and women's rights. She will succeed retiring Senator Ben Cardin and take office on January 3.
