Cork farmer Ger Canty gets a suspended prison sentence for neglecting 17 calves on his property.

Ger Canty, a Cork farmer, received "one more chance" from a District Court judge after being convicted of animal neglect due to 17 dead calves found on his property. His five-month suspended prison sentence will activate if he fails to comply with court conditions, including not keeping female animals and following Department of Agriculture guidelines. Canty, who previously received three concurrent sentences for neglect, must improve his farm practices to avoid imprisonment.
