The UAE is expanding a project to convert CO2 into rock, aiming to capture 10 million tonnes annually by 2030.

The United Arab Emirates is expanding its carbon-to-rock project in Fujairah, aiming to convert over 300 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) into rock. Following a successful pilot that mineralized 10 tonnes of CO2 in under 100 days, this initiative, led by ADNOC and 44.01, utilizes peridotite rock formations. The project aims to significantly reduce carbon emissions and support decarbonization efforts, with a target of capturing 10 million tonnes of CO2 annually by 2030.
