Philippine troops clashed with NPA rebels in Northern Samar, killing two rebels on November 5.

Philippine military forces clashed with suspected New People's Army (NPA) rebels in Northern Samar on November 5th, resulting in the deaths of two rebels, while no government troops were injured. The NPA has been in conflict with the Philippine government since 1969 and, despite a decline in personnel from a peak of 25,000 in the 1980s, it continues to conduct small-scale attacks in rural regions. The confrontation lasted only a few minutes.
