Nigeria's FCCPC orders electricity firms to replace old prepaid meters free for consumers.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) in Nigeria has instructed electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to replace outdated prepaid meters at no extra cost to consumers. FCCPC CEO Tunji Bello emphasized the need to protect consumer rights, particularly regarding metering and billing issues. He condemned practices like estimated billing for faulty meters, affirming that any regulatory violations will face swift corrective action.
