Kioxia expects flash memory demand to triple by 2028, driven by AI, expanding production in 2025.

Kioxia, a Japanese chipmaker backed by Bain Capital, predicts that flash memory demand will nearly triple by 2028, fueled by the rise of artificial intelligence (AI). The company plans to expand production at its Kitakami facility, originally set to start in 2024, now expected to begin in autumn 2025. Increased investment in AI servers is anticipated to drive renewed demand for smartphones and PCs as AI features become more prevalent.
