Chronic Wasting Disease has been found in Montana, prompting increased deer harvesting and testing.

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), a fatal neurologic disease affecting deer, has been detected in Montana's Flathead Valley and Ruby Mountains. The state’s wildlife agency is encouraging hunters to increase deer harvests in affected areas. Meanwhile, Kentucky is running a "Shoot for Samples" giveaway to promote CWD testing among hunters, while Wyoming reports CWD in additional deer and elk areas. CWD does not infect humans, but testing is recommended before consuming affected game.
