SK Telecom will invest $72.9 million to create an AI data center hub in South Korea.

SK Telecom plans to establish an AI data center hub in South Korea, aiming to create an "AI infrastructure superhighway" for the Asia-Pacific region. CEO Ryu Young-sang announced that the project will include AI data centers, GPU as a Service, and edge AI technology. The company will invest 100 billion won (about $72.9 million) to develop a sovereign AI for the Korean market and build a hyperscale AI data center with expandable capacity.
