At a symposium titled “Ramayana: A Timeless Guide” hosted by the Indian Embassy in China, scholars discussed the significant influence of the ancient Indian epic, Ramayana, on Chinese art, literature, and culture. They noted its introduction through Buddhist texts and cross-cultural transmission, particularly emphasizing the role of the 7th-century scholar Xuanzang. The first comprehensive Chinese translation occurred in 1980. The epic is also popular in Tibetan culture, inspiring literature and performances.
