In the first three quarters of 2024, China's work-relief programs created 2.45 million jobs for low-income workers, a 30.2% increase from the previous year, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. These initiatives, focused on key projects and rural infrastructure, distributed 31 billion yuan (approximately 4.35 billion USD) in wages, up 22.7%. The programs aim to assist rural residents, vulnerable individuals, and returning migrant workers.
