Severn Trent Green Power will convert discarded pumpkins into clean energy in Oxfordshire.

Severn Trent Green Power aims to convert discarded pumpkins from Oxfordshire into clean energy at its anaerobic digestion facilities. Processing over 50,000 tonnes of waste annually, these facilities generate 2.1 megawatts of electricity, with pumpkins expected to produce about 77 megawatt hours. The initiative promotes recycling and a circular economy, featuring a video about a pumpkin's journey. Food waste recycling in England is anticipated to become standard by 2026.
