Kootenay Lake ferry crossings in B.C. will shut down Sunday due to a BCGEU workers' strike.
The Kootenay Lake ferry crossings in British Columbia will shut down due to a strike by B.C. General Employees' Union (BCGEU) workers starting Sunday at noon. Only three weekday sailings for essential travel will remain, while emergency services will still have access. The strike results from stalled negotiations with Western Pacific Marine over wage increases and benefits. Essential services on Harrop and Glade cable ferries will not be affected.
