Eighteen African energy ministers met in Cameroon to launch the $5 billion Africa Energy Bank.

Eighteen African energy ministers gathered in Cameroon to discuss the formation of the Africa Energy Bank (AEB), a $5 billion initiative led by the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO) and Afrexim Bank. Nigeria, which secured the AEB's headquarters in Abuja, aims to operationalize the bank by January 28, 2025. The AEB seeks to address financing gaps in the continent's oil and gas sector, fostering investment and supporting energy projects across Africa.
