New Zealand saw a 24% rise in stand-alone house construction approvals in Q3 2024.

In the September 2024 quarter, New Zealand reported a 24% increase in stand-alone house construction approvals compared to the previous year, marking the first rise since December 2021. Overall, 9,176 new homes were consented, a slight increase of 0.5%. However, multi-unit home approvals fell by 15%, totaling 4,691. Despite these gains, the annual number of new homes consented decreased by 17%, with 33,677 homes approved in the year leading up to September 2024.
