Maureen Anderson, a 68-year-old from New Brunswick, has been named the national Silver Cross Mother after losing her two sons, Sgt. Ron and Sgt. Ryan Anderson, to suicide linked to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from their military service in Afghanistan. Ron died in 2014 at 39, and Ryan followed in 2017 at 38. Maureen aims to advocate for improved mental health support for veterans while attending the national Remembrance Day ceremony in Ottawa.
