A bronze statue of F1 legend Gilles Villeneuve was stolen from a Quebec museum, prompting a public appeal.

A bronze statue of Formula One legend Gilles Villeneuve has been stolen from the Gilles Villeneuve Museum in Berthierville, Quebec. Created in 1984 and standing 5 feet 3 inches tall, the statue was sawed off at the ankles between Wednesday night and Thursday. Museum officials fear it may be melted down for its bronze. The statue, significant to local heritage, cost $25,000 and was placed outside the museum in 1994. The museum is seeking public help in its recovery.
