The U.S. has sanctioned five individuals and two companies linked to La Linea, a Mexican drug cartel involved in smuggling fentanyl into the country on behalf of the Juarez Cartel. This action aims to curb the flow of fentanyl, the deadliest drug in the U.S., with overdose deaths rising significantly since 2015. Mexico and China are the main sources of fentanyl and its precursor chemicals. The U.S. Treasury has previously sanctioned over 350 related entities.
