19-year-old Italian Alpine skier Matilde Lorenzi died from head injuries after a training accident on Oct 29.

Matilde Lorenzi, a 19-year-old member of the Italian Alpine ski reserve team, died on October 29 after a training accident on the Grawand G1 slope in Val Senales, Italy. After losing control and suffering a head injury, she was airlifted to a Bolzano hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Lorenzi, an army corporal and promising athlete, was mourned by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation and the Italian winter sports community.
