Stena Line launches Stena Futura and begins Stena Connecta construction for Belfast-Heysham route, increasing freight capacity and reducing CO2 emissions.

Swedish ferry company Stena Line has launched the Stena Futura and laid the keel for its sister ship, Stena Connecta, at a shipyard in China. These NewMax hybrid vessels will increase freight capacity by 40% on the Belfast-Heysham route, responding to rising demand between Northern Ireland and Britain. Both ships can operate on methanol fuel and contribute to Stena Line's goal of reducing CO2 emissions by 30% by 2030, with the Stena Futura entering service in autumn 2025.
