A Malaysian court ruled that former Prime Minister Najib Razak was "wilfully blind" to the origins of funds from the 1MDB scandal, including a $681 million deposit into his account. Judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah stated Najib had a duty to investigate whether these funds were from unlawful activities. The court ordered Najib to defend himself against four charges of gratification and 21 money laundering charges, establishing a prima facie case on all counts.
