6% of inspected cosmetic products in 13 European countries contained banned chemicals linked to health risks.

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) found that about 6% of nearly 4,500 inspected cosmetic products in 13 European countries contained banned chemicals linked to health risks like reduced fertility and cancer. A total of 285 products, including eyeliners and conditioners, were identified as non-compliant with the Stockholm Convention and EU regulations. Enforcement actions have been initiated to remove these harmful products from the market.
