Australia's NEM renewable energy capacity to triple by 2043, led by solar, wind, and storage.
Australia's National Electricity Market (NEM) is projected to expand its renewable energy capacity from 52 GW in 2025 to 208 GW by 2043, a 300% increase. Solar energy will drive this growth, adding 78 GW, while wind and storage will contribute 39 GW and 40 GW, respectively. Government policies, including the Capacity Investment Scheme, support this transition. In Q3 2024, renewable energy reached a record 72.2% of generation, led by rooftop solar at 38.5%.
