Victoria's government plans to reform court system, prohibiting traumatic cross-examinations and fast-tracking homicide cases.
Victoria's government is set to reform its court system to better support victims of sexual assault, family violence, and stalking. The Justice Legislation Amendment Bill will prohibit traumatic cross-examinations during committal hearings, allowing victims to testify only at trials. It will also allow pre-recorded video evidence from children and cognitively impaired individuals, fast-track homicide cases to the Supreme Court, and permit videolink hearings for accused adults in custody.
