Historical Preservation Society initiates Black Panther Heritage Trail in Chicago, adding 13 sites to the National Register of Historic Places.
The Historical Preservation Society of the Illinois Black Panther Party has initiated the Black Panther Heritage Trail project to document significant sites in the party's history. Thirteen historical markers will be placed in Chicago, featuring QR codes for further information. Recently, these sites were added to the National Register of Historic Places, marking a first for the organization. The Black Panthers, active in the 1960s, were known for community programs, notably free breakfast for children.
