In Western Australia, new road safety regulation "Tom's Law" limits P-plate drivers to one passenger for the first 6 months.

Starting December 1, new road safety regulations in Western Australia, dubbed "Tom's Law," will limit P-plate drivers to one passenger for their first six months. This measure aims to curb high youth driver fatality rates following incidents, including the deaths of 15-year-old Tom Saffioti and a friend in a 2021 crash. Exceptions allow more passengers under specific conditions. Violations will incur a $200 fine and two demerit points.
