A flood alert has been issued for 15 villages along the Thenpennai River in Tamil Nadu due to the release of 1,000 cusecs of water from the Sathanur Dam, prompted by heavy rain and inflows from the Krishnagiri Reservoir. District Collector D. Bhaskara Pandian has advised residents in low-lying areas to evacuate. Emergency services are on standby as the Regional Meteorological Centre anticipates further heavy rainfall in the region.
