SIA-India requests govt protection for satellite frequency bands, proposes reservations and long-term spectrum assignments.

The Satcom Industry Association of India (SIA-India) has urged the government to safeguard key frequency bands, especially the Ka and Ku bands, from terrestrial allocations. They propose reserving the 27.5-28.5 GHz band solely for satellite services and suggest specific ranges for Non-Geostationary Satellite Orbit (NGSO)-based Fixed Satellite Services. SIA-India calls for clear authorization guidelines and long-term spectrum assignments, advocating for a 20-year maximum period with renewal rights.
