Rabbit owners on Vancouver Island urged to vaccinate pets against RHDV detected in nearby Washington.

Rabbit owners on Vancouver Island are urged to vaccinate their pets against the deadly rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV), recently detected in San Juan County, Washington. RHDV has no cure and can kill rabbits within 24 hours. A vaccination clinic hosted by VI Fluffle will be held in Nanaimo, with costs set at $35 for the first rabbit. Good biosecurity practices are also recommended to prevent the virus's spread.
