Norwegian skier Alexander Steen Olsen won the men's giant slalom at the World Cup season opener in Sölden, Austria, achieving speeds over 91 kph. He led a Norwegian podium sweep, with Henrik Kristoffersen second and Atle Lie McGrath third. Defending champion Marco Odermatt crashed out during his first run. This victory marks Olsen's second World Cup win, following his success at Palisades Tahoe in February 2023.
