Governor General Mary Simon visited Jasper, Alberta, to recognize the community's resilience after last summer's wildfires, which led to the evacuation of 25,000 residents and damaged about 30% of the town. During her visit, she engaged with children at the library, met seniors, and thanked first responders and volunteers. Simon also honored the memory of firefighter Morgan Kitchen, who died while battling the blaze, and expressed optimism for the community's future.
