The Literacy Lab initiates Leading Men Fellowship, training young B/L men to become early literacy instructors in US preschools.
The Leading Men Fellowship, initiated by the Literacy Lab, trains young Black and Latino men to become early literacy instructors in U.S. preschools, addressing the shortage of early educators and the lack of male teachers of color. Recruits, often straight from high school, receive intensive training and earn $16.50 to $18 per hour. Research shows that students of color perform better with teachers of the same race, enhancing their academic outcomes and reducing dropout rates.
