A 36-year-old off-duty police officer and a 51-year-old man have been charged with aggravated break and enter in connection with a violent home invasion in Lightning Ridge, NSW, on October 3. They allegedly tied up a 78-year-old man and stole $100,000 cash. The victim suffered injuries but was treated and released from the hospital. Both suspects were arrested following an investigation by Strike Force Beniel and are due in Wollongong Local Court. The officer's employment is under review.
