China invests in African pharmaceutical facilities to produce affordable medicines and create jobs.

China has a long history of health cooperation with Africa, dispatching over 25,000 medical personnel since 1963. Chinese pharmaceutical companies are now expanding investments, building facilities to produce affordable medicines, including antimalarial drugs and antibiotics. Notably, a plant in Côte d'Ivoire aims to produce 5 billion tablets annually by 2025. This collaboration seeks to improve local healthcare, reduce medicine costs, and create job opportunities across the continent.
