NSW, Australia increases penalties and enforcement for illegal tobacco and e-cigarette sales.

New South Wales (NSW), Australia, is enacting legislation to combat the underground tobacco and e-cigarette market. Health Minister Ryan Park announced that penalties for illegal sales will double—$220,000 for corporations and $44,000 for individuals—and vendors must obtain a special license. The number of enforcement officers will also double, with 14 new inspectors added. Since July, over 3.2 million illegal cigarettes have been seized, valued at more than $3.7 million.
