Indian telecom companies urge government to reduce AGR-based license fee to 0.5-1%.

Indian telecom companies, represented by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), are urging the government to reduce the license fee based on their adjusted gross revenue (AGR) from the current 8% to between 0.5% and 1%. They argue that this reduction would enhance their capacity to invest in network improvements and digital expansion, particularly in underserved areas. This request follows a Supreme Court ruling on AGR calculations, which the industry claims disadvantages them compared to other sectors.
